On 18th of May the RoboticScope® was used in a Cochlea implantation for the first time. The procedure was done by Professor Vedat Topsakal from University Hospital Antwerpen. The MED-EL Synchrony 2 got implanted with a full insertion.
Additionally, the so-called tent-draping method was used first time ever to provide an additional protection for the operating team against possible COVID-19 infection. Although all the patients are getting tested prior surgery the risk of a false negative test results can still be present. This practical experience comes together with the research article written by Topsakal & al. in My 2020.
